The Aspiring Athletes Club offers competitive and non-competitive training and competition through a summer and winter programme.

Membership is annually renewable and includes 2 terms of coaching and Otago Athletics Fees for competing athletes.
 
You can choose social (club only) or competitive (interclub comps) membership.
 
The following are the membership categories and respective club fees for the 2019-20 season;

Non-Competitive Athletes

All primary and high school children are welcome to join the club and participate in fun activities at our weekly club nights held at the Wanaka Recreational Centre every Thursday after school.
 
Coaching programs are designed to be appropriate to the ages and needs of the athlete. Coaching will be in age groups:
 

  • Under 7 years Get Set Go
  • 7 – 10 years Junior Run Jump Throw
  • 10-13 years intermediate Run Jump Throw
  • Over 13 years Senior Run Jump Throw

 
Please note the new start time of 4.30pm – athletes 10yrs and under will have a 45min session and athletes 10yrs+ will run for 1hr until 5.30pm. Sessions will be over Term 4 2019 and Term 1 2020.

Competitive Squad Training

If you’re serious about school and club events, join our competitive squads who train year round.

Distance running, Sprints, High Jump & Long Jump training is offered by specialised coaches for Athletes focussing on personal performance goals and interclub competitions, you would travel approx 4 times within the season to compete, challenge titles and gain representative selection.
 
In an exciting development this year we are now hiring the new grass track at the Wanaka Recreational Centre for specialized training sessions.
 
Coaches / Sessions:
Sprints, hurdles and Jumps      Barbara & Michael Beable (high performance)
A minimum commitment of three training sessions a week is required.
Monday / Tuesday 4-5.30pm + Saturday 10-12pm @ Rec centre
Wednesday / Thursday 3.30 – 4.30pm @ MAC
